School Magazine Peer Feedback
Nicole has answered some questions and supplied feedback for my school magazine first draft

Are the fonts readable? Are there a maximum of 3 fonts? Have they used a different font for their masthead and their coverlines?

On Jessie’s cover all her fonts are readable but I don’t think she has used 3 different fonts however, her entire cover is good and she really captures the reader’s eye as her cover lines are interesting and appealing to audiences.
Is there a clear colour scheme? Is there a sense of branding / House style
There is a colour scheme of white throughout the cover which gives it a sense of branding which is a good thing because her magazine will be different to anything else we have seen.
Is the eye flow natural?
I think there is not an eye flow because she uses the whole cover to write on but it is a very good cover as she does capture the reader’s eye.
Is the picture believable/well edited?
Yes, this is because I liked how the model reaches out both hands and the writing above it makes it believable. Also, the model does look like a real student which adds realism to the cover.
Is Spelling Punctuation and Grammar accurate-Are there any typo’s?
No there are not any misspellings on the cover.
Are coverlines lined up?
All cover lines are lined up with each other.

This is my first draft of my school magazine cover! I have decided to call my magazine 'Verve' which means 'enthusiasm' which I think is an appropriate name for a school magazine. I really like the font I have used which is 'Edition' and I like the effect of having spaces after each letter to make the masthead that bit more bold and eye-catching. I decided to use the colour white for all of the text as it stood out against the background colour of the grey wall. The strip of across the middle of the page is grey because I think it goes with the whole colour scheme of the cover. I definitely recognise that I do need to make some improvements. I want to maybe experiment with some other colours and fonts because at the moment all the text is exactly the same font and colour which could look slightly boring to potential readers. I have placed the bar code in the bottom right hand corner so that the magazine works with the fact that naturally the human eye scans a page from the left hand top corner to the right hand bottom!
I'm really pleased with the cover so far and I think that my image is eye catching and unique which will attract potential readers/buyers.

L A Y O U T S K E T C H

This is my initial rough sketch of the overall layout of my magazine.
I had already come up with an idea for the image I would try to take during my photo shoot which was to have my model Peda acting out the shape of scales, balancing school life/work and a social life. The text 'Work Hard' and 'Play Hard' will be placed on top of her hands as if she were holding the text. I thought a brick wall background would be good as it is simple but eye-catching to potential readers!
